Cielo e Terra has dual roots in the Veneto region: the Cielo family and the winemakers of the Cantine dei Colli Berici.
The Cielo family’s bond with the land began in 1908 in the Vicenza countryside near the Castelli di Romeo e Giulietta (Castles of Romeo and Juliet), where great-grandfather Giovanni had bought a small farm with a vineyard. Grandfather Pietro continued to run the company with impassioned enthusiasm and social commitment. In the 1960s, the third generation, Giovanni, Renzo and Piergiorgio, built the new winery, a combination of tradition and innovative research with marked expansion at a national level.
Today, Luca and Pierpaolo are at the helm of the company, supported by the winemakers of the Cantine dei Colli Berici.
Giovanni Cielo set up a small winery located right opposite the Castles of Romeo and Juliet, in the heart of the Veneto region, where he began to produce the first bottles of wine.
In the meantime, in the neighbouring area, Cantine dei Colli Berici was founded, based on the idea of bringing together local winemakers and creating a cooperative, enabling members to process the grapes and then sell the wines by adopting a single strategy.
Due to a carefully managed membership process, the Cantine dei Colli Berici now represents more than 1000 winegrower-stakeholders and 3700 hectares of vineyards.
Piero Cielo, the second generation, and his three sons Giovanni, Renzo and Piergiorgio, founded the current Cielo winery in Montorso Vicentino, becoming a leading company in Italy.
After a period of sales and marketing collaboration, the family business Cielo Spa began a joint venture with the Cantine dei Colli Berici, becoming Cielo e Terra. The aim was to create a more sustainable and equitable value chain.
The Cantine dei Colli Berici, together with the Colognola ai Colli winery created the Collis Veneto Wine Group consortium, enabling our company to further expand its value chain in the production of the great Veronese wines such as Amarone and Ripasso.
In 2021, the Palladian-style Venetian Villa La Favorita was purchased to preserve and enhance the artistic heritage of the territory.
Standing majestically in a vineyard on the top of a hill opposite the Colli Berici, the Villa will become our main headquarters and hospitality venue with the aim of forging strong relationships between the winegrowing district and our customers.
